Outside of astrology and tacos, Tia loves music. As an honours graduate of Metalwork’s Entertainment Business Management program, she was able to gain the skills needed to translate this love into understanding the logistics outside of pressing play on a record, but she’s always had her eyes on the streets and ears on the ground looking for emerging talent, and continuing to make spaces for them through her many talents.

Tia’s first foray into the entertainment industry was by way of student radio. As an on-air personality during the ‘Jammin with Jay’ show on The Hawk 105.5, Mohawk College’s radio station, she was able to build her capacity for programming, but it also foreshadowed her curation and hosting ability, as she assisted in the development of a monthly specialty show titled "The Up and Coming", which showcased new talent with interviews and rap cyphers.

Her interest in music continued to pique and soon she would have another avenue to explore, this time through writing. She began working with Hip Hop Canada as the masthead’s Central Canada contributor. Here she created and developed content covering Hip Hop and R&B within the Central Canada region as well as facilitated interviews with rising and major acts.

She finally stepped into talent management, of which she has a particular penchant for. She was the executive assistant for a boutique talent management firm where she was responsible for logistics and booking various talent for both film and television.

It wouldn’t be long before she would appear on GYALCAST, a pop culture podcast that amplified the voices of Black and women of colour based in Toronto. During her time as a personality, GYALCAST had been mentioned on Elle (Canada) and featured on Daily VICE, Noisey, The FADER and Revolt.

Overall, Tia loves finding and sharing good music and wants to continue to do so. With her commitment to pushing underground artists who have yet to peak, she also has aspirations to work in management.
